Spencer Riley is partnered with an Aircraft Seating Manufacturer, and we are currently seeking a Technical Director to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a large and structured team, including  managers overseeing key areas such as project engineering, design, stress/structures, research and development, certification, technical assistance, and electrical/IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) systems. The main objective is to ensure the development of innovative, comfortable, and competitive Business Class seats, certified in accordance with CS/FAR 25 and 23 aviation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead and coordinate the engineering department, fostering synergy between the various divisions to achieve the design and development goals for Business Class seats.
  • Design and Development: Oversee the complete design and development lifecycle of Business Class seats, with a strong emphasis on comfort, ergonomic design, and advanced technologies, including IFE systems.
  • Certification and Compliance: Collaborate with the certification team to ensure all seat designs meet CS/FAR 25 and 23 regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with OEM requirements, such as Airbus and Boeing, through audits and regulatory procedures.
  • Innovation and Research: Drive and support research and development activities to create innovative Business Class seating solutions, ensuring customization based on client needs and adherence to tight delivery schedules.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead high-importance strategic projects for Geven, such as the development of new Business Class seat models, coordinating specialized task forces to ensure successful bids and completion of Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR).
  • OEM Relationships: Maintain and develop high-level relationships with major OEMs, ensuring their expectations are met and the success of Business Class product lines during technical audits such as Airbus TDCA or Boeing SIT.
  • Linefit Program Management: Support the execution of linefit programs for new Business Class seat models and configurations, ensuring integration with the latest IFE technologies and adaptation to various aircraft platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent)
  • Several years of experience in the design, development, and certification of aircraft seats, preferably in the Business Class sector
  • In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations (CS/FAR 25 and 23)
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing complex teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing strategic projects with major OEMs such as Airbus and Boeing
  • Innovation-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
