About the company: Spencer Riley is partnered with a Sports Nutrition business, who are developing their Ecommerce team within Europe to focus mainly on major online retailers, Amazon, Ecommerce accounts and offerings to specialist bricks and click accounts. Our client is a founder owned US business, and has been a leader in sports nutrition since 1970s. They have been present in the EU for over 20 years and sales for the region have been growing steadily over the last 2 decades, and their desire is to now build the brand with more resourcing and support. Marketing investment is about to increase significantly with media testing starting shortly, focused on the UK and Amazon DE. Their footprint is currently supported through trade based activities– and there is a strong desire to grow the brand footprint with ecommerce partnerships and digital support. Supported by their global sales leadership team and our EU Marketing team we are now recruiting their first local sales role to focus on Ecommerce development in the region.

Spencer Riley is partnered with a Sports Nutrition business from the US and we are hiring for a Senior Business Manager for Ecommerce across Europe, your primary job will be to expand their footprint across key markets (UK, Germany) and develop their current relationships from tactical trading contacts into strong growth partnerships.  They have established a strong Marketing agency ecosystem, who you will work closely with to deliver customer growth through Ecommerce performance marketing drivers.  Amazon is their priority customer – and with limited historical investment there is huge scope for growth in this customer alone.  Working alongside the US Amazon team and our local Amazon specialist Ecommerce agency, you will develop the roadmap for EU growth with Amazon, including product and pricing strategy to support growth initiatives.  

In addition to Amazon, to maximize their growth potential through the Ecommerce channel you will need to increase distribution and gain listings across new customers and marketplaces.  This will also be a key part of the Senior Ecom Manager EU role, as you will be the key person to open new relationships and deliver this wider footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Execute E-Commerce Strategy:
  • Lead the development and execution of tailored strategies for current e-commerce customers (including Amazon) to maximize growth and profitability across customer platforms.
  • Collaborate internally to define regional pricing and product strategy, to enable Ecom growth as part of a multi-channel mix.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen the brand’s presence on key e-commerce sites, ensuring optimal product placement, pricing, and promotional activities.
  1. New Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue new e-commerce business opportunities within the EU market, focusing on UK/DE.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential new partners, negotiating terms that are beneficial to both parties.
  1. Business Plan Development and Execution:
  • Build comprehensive business plans in collaboration with key stakeholders, setting clear objectives and strategies for growth.
  • Execute against these plans, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
  1. Promotional Activities Coordination:
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to propose, execute, and report on promotional campaigns that drive traffic and conversions.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of promotions, making data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.
  1. Data Evaluation and Collaborative Decision-Making:
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to make informed, collaborative decisions with e-commerce customers.
  • Provide regular reports on key metrics, offering insights and recommendations to improve overall performance.
  1. Relationship Management:
  • Deepen business partnerships with e-commerce customers by providing exceptional service, understanding their needs, and proactively offering solutions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring ongoing communication and satisfaction.
  • Work effectively with Ecomm/creative agencies to support day to day activity management

Key Success Metrics:

  • Achievement of revenue, profitability, and market share growth targets.
  • Successful execution of business plans and promotional strategies.
  • Clear growth plans with existing e-commerce customers.
  • Identification and onboarding of new e-commerce customers.
  • Data-driven decision-making leading to measurable improvements in performance.

Ideal candidate:

  • Highly entrepreneurial, will have experience opening up new relationships across the EU region.
  • Strategic thinker, able to express growth and pricing strategies clearly.
  • Strong sales experience, ideally with Amazon or other marketplaces in addition to direct Ecomm business development.
  • Growth mindset, driven by the idea of investing for growth and able to draw a clear line between money in and growth out.
  • Customer orientation – this role must be the customer’s representative within UN EU.
  • Product orientation, someone who is passionate about the product they sell and the important role they play in our consumers’ lives.
  • Excellent communication – able to explain what is needed from internal stakeholders and collaborators clearly.
  • Sports Nutrition experience is a benefit, but not necessary.
  • Fluent business English necessary, fluent German would be a significant benefit.
