Role overview:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Manager to lead a project in Eastern Europe. This role involves consultancy on the decommissioning of facilities and equipment at a nuclear power plant. The Commercial Manager will support the implementation of decommissioning activities and provide consultancy services for a Project Management Unit (PMU).

Reporting Structure

  • Internal: Reports to the Head of Operations (New Build and International)
  • External: Reports to the Head of PMU

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and support the Client’s PMU on its composition to ensure it meets the obligations under the project, potentially including staff training in project controls, reporting, and project accounting.
  • Maintain financial management systems for the project.
  • Support the PMU in managing dismantling contracts, including disbursement requests and project accounting/audits.
  • Assist the PMU with compliance and reporting obligations under financing documents.
  • Provide risk management and interface management support to the PMU.
  • Mentor Client personnel with varying skill levels and experience.

Competencies

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with contracts related to engineering, construction, and supply of goods, including familiarity with various model forms of contract conditions (e.g., FIDIC).
  • High levels of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and document drafting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, capable of building strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A general understanding of nuclear process facility decommissioning is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant University Degree or Professional/National Body Diploma.
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in the nuclear sector, with a focus on large-scale projects.
  • Minimum 10 years as a manager or key expert in a relevant field.
  • Practical knowledge of various model forms of contract conditions, such as FIDIC.
  • At least 10 years of experience with public procurement projects funded or administered by international financial institutions.
  • Experience in Central/Eastern Europe and working in multinational consultant teams is expected.
  • High fluency in English (oral and written) and full computer literacy.

Duration:

  • The position is currently set for a duration of fifteen (15) months, with the possibility of extension.
